Description
The Anua Triple Acid Microdart Patch is a spot patch with more than 200 dissolving microdarts on its underside, designed for the early, closed bumps that ordinary patches cannot reach. Where a plain hydrocolloid patch waits for a spot to surface, this one carries a triple-acid complex just past the skin barrier so it can start working before anything comes to a head.

What is a microdart patch?
A microdart patch is a hydrocolloid patch with a field of tiny soluble cones moulded onto the adhesive side. The darts are far too small to draw blood or cause real injury — Anua’s are set into a 0.3 mm slim-fit patch — and they dissolve within a few hours, releasing their ingredients slightly below the surface rather than leaving them sitting on top of it.

Why use microdarts instead of a normal patch?
Because of where the problem sits. A closed bump has no opening, so a standard hydrocolloid patch has no fluid to absorb and effectively just covers the area. The microdarts bypass that by dissolving through the very top of the skin, delivering the acid complex to the spot itself. That is why this patch is the right tool early — the moment you feel a bump forming, before anything is visible.
How to use it
- Cleanse the area and dry it fully. Apply nothing else first.
- Remove the white border film, then peel away the transparent film.
- Place the patch over the bump and press for 10 seconds.
- Leave for at least 4 hours — overnight is ideal, so the darts fully dissolve.
- Remove and discard. Use one patch per spot, once.
Who should be careful
Anua reports this patch as dermatologically tested, non-comedogenic and low-irritation, but it still delivers acids into the skin. Use it on individual spots rather than across a whole area, and do not stack it on the same night as a strong retinol or a leave-on acid exfoliant on that spot. A mild warmth on application is normal; persistent stinging is not. Deep, painful, recurring cystic acne needs a doctor, not a patch.
Why microneedle delivery is used at all
The skin barrier is extremely good at its job, which is the central problem in topical skincare. The stratum corneum blocks most molecules above roughly 500 Da from passing through in any meaningful quantity — a threshold well known in dermatology. That is why so many promising ingredients underperform in a cream: they simply never reach the depth where they would act. Dissolving microneedles sidestep this by creating temporary channels through the outermost layer, depositing their payload just beneath it. The darts here are only fractions of a millimetre, far too short to reach nerves or blood vessels, which is why the patch does not hurt or bleed. See this review of dissolving microneedle delivery for the underlying science.
Microdart Patch or Ultra Thin Spot Cover Patch?
Use the Anua Triple Acid Microdart Patch on early, closed, under-the-skin bumps, overnight. Use the Anua Ultra Thin Spot Cover Patch once the spot has opened or come to a head, and when you need daytime cover under makeup. Anua sells them as complementary steps, and in practice the microdart patch is what you apply on night one, with the hydrocolloid patch taking over if the spot surfaces. Frequently asked questions
Does the Anua Triple Acid Microdart Patch hurt?
No. You may feel a faint prickle or warmth as the darts dissolve, but the darts are far too short to cause pain or bleeding.
How long do I leave it on?
At least four hours, and preferably overnight, so the microdarts dissolve completely.
Can I use it on an open, popped spot?
No. Use a plain hydrocolloid patch on broken skin. Microdarts are for closed bumps.
Can I wear it under makeup?
It is designed for overnight use. For daytime coverage the ultra-thin hydrocolloid patch is the better choice.
How many can I use at once?
Treat individual spots only — a few at a time is fine, but do not cover large areas of the face.
